Lucasfilm and UTA fire Gina Carano

The conservative actress shared controversial posts on social media.

Gina Carano, the 38-year-old American actress, star of The Mandalorian and of the the Star Wars galaxy, has been fired after sharing a horrible post on social media stating a disturbing parallel between the genocide of the Jew during the Holocaust and the condition of being a Republican in today America.

“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. […] her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable,” a Lucasfilm spokesperson said in a statement.

The immediate termination of her contract with the Lucasfilm did not come as a surprise considering that on Wednesday, the hashtag #FireGinaCarano started trending following the publication of her disrespectful post on Instagram. The post is no longer on the actress’ social media profile, but proofs exist.

The conservative actress is not new to bizarre social media posts. Last November, in a series of irresponsible tweets, she mocked people wearing masks to protect themselves from coronavirus pandemic and erroneously suggested a voter fraud at the 2020 American presidential elections.

The United Talent Agency (UTA) followed Lucasfilm’s decision and dropped Carano as a client, as a spokesperson of the agency confirmed yesterday.

Carano is a former mixed martial artist who retired from fighting in 2009 to start an acting career. She played in Haywire (Steven Soderbergh, 2011), Fast & Furious 6  (Justin Lin, 2013), and Deadpool (Tim Miller, 2016) before starring as Rebel Alliance soldier Cara Dune in the TV series The Mandalorian.
